Developing Vs Outsourcing An iPhone App

The iPhone is a popular platform, and many businesses are getting applications developed to use to promote their brand and engage with their customers. If you want to create an app for your brand, then one of the first things you will need to consider is the pros and cons of developing vs outsourcing an iPhone app.

Developing Vs Outsourcing An IPhone App ChartDeveloping an iPhone app requires that you are capable of programming for the iPhone. You will need the correct software tools, and you will need to be registered as an Apple Software Developer.

The benefit of developing an app in house is that you have one hundred percent control over each stage of the process. You can make changes at any point without needing to contact a third party.

Sadly, most people don’t have a team of software developers available to them – or if they do, the team is already working on other projects that are more important to the business. In that case, outsourcing makes a lot more sense.

When you outsource your app development process, you can take advantage of the experience that the outsourcing company already has, freeing up your staff to work on the things that they specialize in.

For most companies, outsourcing will save time and money, and also produce a better result. Developing for mobile devices is not the same as developing for the desktop, so why invest a large amount of time in learning the quirks of mobile platforms when you can pay someone who already knows those things to do the work for you and an honest price.

Developing Vs Outsourcing An IPhone AppIf you make the decision to outsource the development of an app for the iPhone, then you should look for a company that can guide you through the process of designing your application. If you have an idea of what you want your app to do then you can describe it to the developer, and they will offer comments and design suggestions for you to work from. Of course, if you know exactly what you want then you can dictate everything from the layout to features and functionality. You are in control throughout the whole process.

The final decision about developing vs outsourcing an iPhone app will depend on the type of company you have, and the resources that are at your disposal, however the balance for most companies is in favour of outsourcing the development process. After all, a company that specializes in iPhone application development will be able to create the application quickly, and will produce a quality product that your customers will enjoy using. Excelent article.
Can you give me some examples of app’s and costs?
That way I can figure out prices for my ideas.

    Hi Vitor,

Thanks for commenting, it depends on how complicated your iphone app is. For a fairly complicated app you can get an app made for as low as $300. But finding an app developer who has a good portfolio, a programming team, a designer and a musician will cost you around $1200. Which is not a lot considering the cost of buying a mac and some expensive software. You can always look on and look at similar jobs and see how much people are quoting them for.

But its well worth posting a job to get a general idea of the costs involved.
